Some welcome news that Chatham and parts of my ward in Luton will benefit from £1m of Big Lottery Fund money which will see £100,000 spent every year for the next decade.
The announcement from the Big Lottery Fund comes after Chatham Town Centre forum activity to secure refurbishment of the superstore on the Brook.
The positive news of funding comes after months of Conservative overspends on town centre projects.
It is hoped that this money will finally see the improvements necessary to areas of social deprivation and we will work with all parties and none to ensure this money is spent sensibly on the priorities of the community
It is however unwise, if is reported as accurate in Medway Messenger, for Conservative Councillor Andrew Mackness to charactise the Tesco end as ‘more than a toilet with people defecating and urinating everywhere.’
Comments such as these are unwelcome and do not reflect the real challenges to be found in these communities
Update
It seems quick of the button this morning on Twitter, Cllr Mackness indicated a misquote and instead was referring to the Tesco Stairwell.
Now then, isnt Twitter useful.
